Guh, I really love Pavel here, the line that he's used to being the only genius on the bus, how on the bus it is America as he's been told America no longer lives up to (or at least that was the implication I got?) and here it does - and all the characters (except for Scotty?) so wonderfully sketched in with just a line or two each. Are you building toward a Sulu/Chekov subplot? Because I can see that happening. I love the student visa/intern angle, and would love to see that become a side issue as the campaign progresses (Candidate Kirk employs non-Americans! He calls himself patriotic! Etc).
